A man accustomed to hiding secrets. A woman with a lost past. Love that cannot be denied.
A man accustomed to hiding secrets.
His dark silver eyes are haunted, and for good reason. Logan Lipinstein lost his wife years ago in the war and has been a living shell of a man ever since, attempting to atone for past sins. Until one fateful day, when she walks past him carrying a basket of bread.
A woman with a lost past.
Sienna Ponstance lives in the comfort of her grandmother's estate, having long ago put herself on the shelf as a spinster. She has her charcoals, the village that she loves, and peaceful days--even if something has always been missing from her life. Until the day her tranquility is shattered when a strange man accosts her as she is walking home from the village.
Love reunited.
His wife--dead for ten years--walked along the path in front of Logan. Scarcely believing his eyes, he approaches her and is quickly rewarded with a rebuff that includes the point of a knife. Sienna has no memory of him, thinking him only a ruffian.
Now he just has to convince her that he actually is her husband. And that their boundless love can conquer anything--including a past that threatens them at every turn.

"THE DEVIL IN THE DUKE is a huge finale for the Revelry’s Tempest series by KJ Jackson. Finally — FINALLY— we learn the backstory of one of romance’s great, mysterious and, not to mention, hot leading men.
Logan Lipinstein and his quiet, intense persona have been woven throughout the entire series. He’s there when needed, supportive, and tough. He’s also empathetic and has always protected what he considers his responsibility. He’s quiet, but forceful when he needs to be. I should also mention that he’s gorgeous! Those expressive dark, silver-gray eyes have been mentioned frequently. They hide secrets.
It is no spoiler to tell you that on a normal, bucolic day in a town distant from Logan’s usual London haunts, his dead wife walks by. Or his long-thought-dead wife walks by, whom Logan believed he had lost in a massacre in Spain ten years previously. And, no— she isn’t a look-alike or someone who resembles Sienna. It is his wife and she has no idea who Logan is.
So follows the story of Logan’s past, told in bits and pieces as Sienna struggles to remember her life before whatever had stolen her memories away. To be certain,it is remarkable- often brutal, dark, and violent, but also sweet in love and loyalty. There are startling revelations and unexpected insights, twists that could not have been anticipated, and some very steamy lovemaking. But the darkness will permeate until some major issues are resolved.
I thought the book a marvel and a masterpiece. It brought together so many of the issues that had drifted through the entire Revelry’s Tempest series. For that reason I, personally, do not believe THE DEVIL IN THE DUKE should be considered a stand-alone novel. Without having read at least some of the series previously, the unfolding of Sienna and Logan’s story would be lacking in impact. For those of us who have (im)patiently waited for this amazing conclusion, I repeat: it is a marvel and a masterpiece.
I preordered and purchased this book, but also accepted an ARC because I couldn’t wait another second to read Logan’s story! It did not disappoint."

I preordered and purchased this book, but also accepted an ARC because I couldn’t wait another second to read Logan’s story! It did not disappoint. - Very emotional story about two abused children, a boy and a girl, who ran away from St Giles , got married and were separated by evil forces. He almost died and she was thought dead. Actually she was hurt and got amnesia and doesn't know anything about her past. For 10 long years they have been separated but you feel their love the minute he sees her and she sees him. I don't want to spoil this story because there are so many twists and turns your head starts spinning. I have waited for Logan's story and I was awed by it. I loved the h so much. She had been through so much And yet she thrived once they started trying to unravel the threads of their lives. And the H is totally swoon worthy and so in love with his wife. It's almost painful to watch. But their journey together is superb. There's one point in the book where I didn't believe what she did because it just didn't fit with the love she had with him. I was so angry that she believed the evil villain and acted so badly towards the H, I was like enough already but their love powered through and she finally understood. What those children went through is heartbreaking and so traumatic, all of them were so damaged and emotionally bereft and in the end all they have is each other. And their love. Selfless and beautiful. I definitely recommend reading the other books in the series in order to fully experience this one. I do hope a book about Robby, the brother comes out. He broke my heart too. Loved this series. I wish I could experience it again for the first time.
- “He knew this would happen. Knew she would die. Leave him alone on this earth. He’d known it from the start. Known it since she was three and he was five. One did not grow old in the world they existed in. For death followed him. It always hadâ€
Just that quote from the book tore at my heart. This is Logan’s story, one of the men that has been part of this series and managed the guards at The Revelry’s Tempest. He has been a husk of a man since his beloved wife Sierra had died ten years ago and he blamed himself. It had driven his actions in everything he did.
But one amazing day he thinks he sees her and runs to talk to her. Could it be her or was he going crazy! It was her but she had lost her memory and at first did not believe he was her husband
All I can say is this story pulled me in, with darkness and light that exploded at times. Logan, his brother Robbie and Sierra had grown up together under awful circumstances that they only wanted to escape.
The emotions that ran hot and cold brought such sadness but the love these two had was transcendent.
I have enjoyed every book I have read by this wonderful author. Her characters truly come alive alive and this story will make your heart smile at the end. - This was a depressing story. Even the love the H/h had for each other became depressing after a while. I ended up skipping chunks, hoping the tone would change so I could dispel the doom and gloom from the story. It felt like the story continued to beat the reader's emotions into the ground. For me, looking for escape, this was an awful choice.
- Logan, the head guard at revelry’s Tempest, had a past that no one knew. And while talking a walk in a village he sees his wife, Sienna, who he thought had died ten years ago. But her memory is lost. Their story is one of finding each other again, then being ripped apart. You will have your heart shredded reading this story but they do get their HEA!
