‘the geometry of being Black’ is a poetic piece that splits open the concrete beneath our feet in order to give society a glimpse into prominent issues that the Black community experiences today. The book probes into five themes how the Black community receives anti-Blackness and internalizes anti-Blackness, how the community can unlearn anti-Blackness and resist anti-Blackness, and how the community can learn to love their Blackness again. Some topics explored in the book are colorism, colonialism, police brutality, misogynoir, hair politics, self-loathing, toxic-masculinity, healing, and self-love. This book will break your heart open in the beginning, fill it with love in the middle, and sow it back up at the end.

the geometry of being Black ogorchukwu Books Reviews
- This is such a beautiful book that leaves you in awe... The poems penetrated deep, in a visceral way. It's like the author took the words right out of my mouth and put them onto the page. The poems resonate with me so much. It touches on so many nuanced Black experiences, written with such precision, vibrancy and authenticity. It's one of my favorite reads, picking it up to read feels like talking to my best friend. The range of poems in here are truthful, comforting, raw and empowering... - This book took me to back to my most tender self. When you think you’ve got healing all figured out, the universe will send something that will take you to your corners to finish the work. Those deep indigo spaces you wouldn’t dare sit with because you can’t stand being there alone. The universe did that for me, and it came plainly and boldly through this book. For that, I am forever thankful.

A truly remarkable book by a writer who has a unique voice. An urgent read for anyone who has tried to articulate the deep complexities they have. Very poignant.

- The geometry of being black is poetry at it's finest. It captures the full range of emotions that people of color feel all to often. We live in interesting times. While we've made progress, there's still a lot of growth needed in our nation and our world. Through her words and her poems, Ogorchukwu paints a picture of the current state of affairs. The book is separated into themes, each with their own voice, so the readers are taken through a bit of a journey. I'd highly recommend! I've read it a couple times already.
